Dr. Shelly Harrington

 

Dr. Shelly Harrington graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and has been working in the Bay area since then.  She spent 3 years at a local day practice, did emergency relief work for 1 year at emergency clinics in the bay area and has been working at the UEAC/EAC clinics since 2003.  She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, abdominal ultrasound, and small mammal medicine/surgery.

 

 

Dr. David Novotny

 

David Novotny is a 1985 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He has been practicing as a small animal clinician since then.  His first position was in Stroudsburg, PA, where he was an associate for 3 years, then chief of staff for 4 years.  He then moved to Grand Cayman where he was chief of staff for 6 years, then to San Diego where he was a partner/practice owner for 5 years.  Recently he relocated to Northern California where he practiced in South Lake Tahoe for 2 years.  Dr. Novotny joined UEAC/EAC in March of 2005.  He has practiced emergency medicine and surgery throughout his career and finds that to be the most rewarding aspect of the profession.  He has special interests in emergency medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.  He spends his free time in Lake Tahoe where he enjoys skiing, snowboarding, biking and triathlons
 

Dr. Roger Repp

 

Dr. Roger Repp brings over 20 years of emergency medical practice and experience to UEAC.  He graduated in the top ten of his 1983 UC Davis class.  After an internship in a busy multi-specialty referral practice he stayed on briefly as part of the staff before joining the North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic.  In 1991 he left to become a founding shareholder of the Monterey Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic where he helped manage and practiced as Chief of Staff until 1998.  After taking a short sabbatical and working occasionally at emergency clinics in the bay area, he joined the UEAC staff where he has been working since 1998.  He has a special interest in all aspects of small animal emergency medicine and surgery.

Dr. Judy Owens

 

Dr. Judy Owens graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 following an undergraduate degree in Biology (honors) from Indiana University.  Prior to her decision to study Veterinary Medicine, she worked in various aspects of shelter care and animal control.  Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Owens practiced in a general veterinary medical practice until the challenge of emergency medicine and surgery called to her in 1996.  Dr. Owens enjoys skiing and scuba diving in her spare time

 Dr. Lisa Szucs

Dr. Lisa Szucs, elected to Phi Zeta, the scholasic honor society for veterinary medicine, graduated from the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After an externship with the Califorina State Department of Health in Epidemiological Studies, she did relief work for 3 years, primarily in emergency clinics in the Bay Area and Sacramento.  She has worked for UEAC/EAC for the past 15 years.  Her interest in clinical pathology is a reflection of her previous experience as a medical technologist.  A self-confessed night owl and adrenaline junkie, Dr. Szucs remains in emergency medicine because " I don't do skin."

Dr. Lynn Hendrix

 

Dr. Hendrix grew up in Oregon and later attended University of Oregon, graduating with a psychology degree in 1987.  Dr. Hendrix graduated from UC-Davis Veterinary School in 2002 after working for many years as a veterinary receptionist and technician/assistant.  She has spent the time since 2002 working in emergency medicine.

 

 

Dr. Christina Waitzman

 Dr. Christina Waitzman graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and has worked in the small animal emergency and critical care field for 18 years.  She spent her first year in practice at an internship in Sonoma County.  After doing emergency relief work in the SF Bay Area for a brief time, she worked at an emergency practice on the SF peninsula for 17 years. She has a special interest in all aspects of emergency medicine and critical care with particular passion about pain management, critical care nutrition, and treatment of poisonings and organ failure.  Dr. Waitzman is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, Veterinary Information Network, and various national as well as local veterinary associations.  She is excited to join the team at UEAC/  EAC and use her expertise to help animal patients as well as their guardians in the South Bay Area.  In her free time, Dr. Waitzman enjoys quality time with her husband and kitty family, endurance road cycling, reading, and cooking.

Dr. Jenna Passer

Dr. Jenna Passer received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California-Davis in 2000.  She enjoys all aspects of small animal emergency medicine and surgery, and has been a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society since 1997.  In addition to her husband, Alan(also a veterinarian), her family currently consists of four cats and two dogs.  Her outside interests include reading, crocheting, skiing, eating sushi, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Dave Morehouse, Chief of Staff

Dr. Dave Morehouse graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.  Prior to this he completed master's and bachelor's degrees in the biological sciences from California Polytechnic State University and the University of California, San Diego, respectively.

Dr. Morehouse's professional focus since earning his DVM has been exclusively in Emergency and Critical Care.  Specific clinical predilections include traumatology, neurology, and soft tissue surgery.

When not working Dr. Morehouse enjoys many different athletic and outdoors ventures, travel, and spending time with friends. He currently resides in San Jose with his dog and two cats.

 Dr. Morehouse is also involved with the clinic as Chief of Staff.

Dr. Stephanie La Plume

Dr. Stephanie LaPlume graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. As a studen she was selected to the Phi Zeta veterinary honor society and served as vice president of the veterinary professional fraternity Omega Tau Sigma.  Prior to this she obtained her Bachelor's degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania.  She completed a rigorous emergency medicine & surgery internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists where she discovered her love for emergency medicine and decided to move across the country and join the veterinary team at UEAC and EACSJ. Within emergency medince she has a special interest in trauma, soft tissue surgery and neurology.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two cats, as well as horseback riding, snowboarding and travel.
